What: Upper Thames Catchment Partnership and LANDWISE NFM workshop When: Wednesday 12 June 2019 11:00-14:00 Where: Down Ampney Village Hall, Down Ampney, GL7 5QR
The Upper Thames Catchment Partnership are hosting an upcoming Natural Flood Management (NFM) workshop on Wednesday 12th June with LANDWISE.
The workshop will have a specific focus on the Churn, Coln and Cole catchments. This opportunity has come about through the Upper Thames Catchment Partnership’s collaboration with the LANDWISE project (LAND Management in lowland catchments for Integrated flood risk reduction).
The workshop will provide an opportunity to consider different NFM measures and map opportunity areas for where different measures may be appropriate now and in the future (and to discuss where things may not be appropriate!).
The information from the workshop will then be used to model what the impact of those interventions would be, providing some useful information for partners going forward.
Some prior understanding of NFM measures would be useful, however is not required. Knowledge about the local area, landscape, ground conditions (geology, soils), hydrology, etc are all key elements that will help to inform the opportunity mapping.
If you are interested in attending or know someone else who may be, then please forward them to the Upper Thames Catchment Partnership, lead Sarah Wells on: sarah.wells@fwagsw.org.uk or 07769203068.
There will be breakfast rolls, cakes and teas and coffees to keep you all well fed and watered throughout the workshop! Please also let Sarah know of any dietary requests (e.g vegetarian, gluten free etc).
